My final A-level D&T coursework project was to design and build a portable workbench, much like the ubiquitous Workmate. The aim was to improve upon some of the problems with existing products - namely, make it easier to carry, simpler and more flexible to set up, and reduce the amount of handle-winding required to adjust the jaws.
